Weekly Jr. Oiler

10/23/26

Here is this week's Jr. Oiler for your review!

Principal Update:

Dear Dwyer Families,

The word that comes to mind as I write this update this week was COMMUNITY.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for parent-teacher conferences this week. Strong partnerships between our staff and families are at the heart of our students’ success, and we deeply appreciate the time you took to collaborate with our teachers and support your child’s educational experience.

We are also excited to announce that Dwyer Middle School has once again been recognized as an Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll School! This achievement is a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work, and continuous support of our entire school community—students, staff, and parents alike. Thank you for making Dwyer such an incredible place to learn and grow.

Looking ahead, our PTSA is hosting the annual Haunted Basement next Thursday! It’s always a fantastic tradition, and we hope to see many of our families come out for an evening of fun and community spirit.

Dywer is a special place indeed, and our COMMUNITY is a tremendous reason why, thank you to you all who are working with us to help your student become "Better Each Day"!

Have a wonderful weekend and Go Jr. Oilers!

Respectfully,

Mr. Okamoto

A special message from the PE Department:

Hello Dwyer Families!

This Monday, 10/26 is a big day in PE: students will dress out for the first time! It is an exciting step, and we want everyone to feel ready.

Many of our students have not used a dial combination lock in a long time, and some never have. A little practice this weekend will make Monday morning much smoother. If you have a dial lock at home, please have your student practice with it:

Turn the dial RIGHT three full turns, then stop on the first number.
Turn LEFT one full turn past the first number, then stop on the second number.
Turn RIGHT directly to the third number.
 Pull the shackle open.

One important reminder: District policy requires students to use the school-issued PE lock. Please do not send locks from home. Practicing at home is great, but home locks should stay at home.

Please also remind your student to keep their combination private and not share it with friends.

Thank you for helping us get off to a great start. If you have any questions, please reach out. We are looking forward to Monday!

Counseling Corner:

Everybody Belongs at Dwyer!
We had a fun Counselor and Robyne’s Nest event on Monday with our students “Everybody Belongs at Dwyer” activity. At lunch students gathered and added chalk messages of kindness, inclusion, and belonging.

Belonging matters in middle school because it can help students build friendships and confidence. Each student matters in our Dwyer community. Ask your student about the message they drew and keep sharing kindness at home!

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns throughout the year. I am here to support your child with their social-emotional and academic success.

Here is my counseling referral form if you would like to refer your child to me.

Warmly,

Mrs. Garcia, MS, PPSC
